Be The Sun

One of the things that I struggle with daily is treating myself with the respect I deserve - recognizing the divine within myself. So this struck me with particular power when I read it among the book quotes at zaadz.

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us.

We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, and fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be?

You are a child of God. Your playing small doesn't serve the world. There's nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We are born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us.

It's not just in some of us, it's in everyone.

And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.

I totally agree with being afraid of one's own power. I know I am terrified of how powerful I can be. I turn the power inward and use it to punish myself instead of turning it outward and using it to make positive change. It's because I don't have the confidence to use the power appropriately but I have to do something with it, so I use it against myself.

Just what I needed to read Nixie, I'm going to have to print this out and hang it over my desk to read as I write. thanks so much for sharing!
