I am an urban witch living in Boston. It's challenging to practice an earth-based religion when most of the earth around belongs to someone else. Now that I have a bit of outdoor space - a back deck overlooking a garden with trees that are home to any number of birds I'd never expect to see in the city - I feel I have a tiny corner of nature to inhabit. At least now I have a space where I can burn things without fear of setting off the fire alarm! Imagine what the neighbors will think if I decide to hold skyclad rituals out there!

After many years of considering myself agnostic, I realized that my spiritual inclinations were Pagan a few years ago when I started to read tarot and to learn a lot about Goddess religions. Although it took me a while to get comfortable with the idea of embracing any "religion," I embraced Wicca and view my practice of witchcraft as a spirtual expression of faith. My family is descended from the Dalriadan Scots and the Pictish royal house of Fortrenn, so by heredity my pantheon is Celtic, although representatives from a few others slip in from time to time.

For a few years I studied formally with Christopher Penczak, a wonderful and wise teacher who helped me find skills I never imagined I had. As I am continually seeking the right way for me to express myself on this journey down the path of the witch, it takes me in very interesting directions. The most recent twist has led me to the Feri Tradition and I will begin training in a shamanic-focused branch of that tradition soon. The call of my Fey brothers and sisters is strong.

For now I'm trying to focus on making my practice of the craft a simple, automatic part of my life, at the same time pursuing more theoretical and philosophical topics from an intellectual point of view. I've been a writer my whole life and at some point I hope to create some work that comes from my practice of the Craft. I also hope to collaborate with an illustrator friend to create my own tarot deck.
